Conference and Training support for Early Career Researchers
Purpose: To support the Early Career Researcher in the development of their skills and career in algae research.
Value: £250 for UK events; £750 for international events
Application deadline: Apply no later than 6 weeks prior to event start
Must-haves:
- Applicant must be a supervisor, member of Algae-UK and a UK-based academic who meets the eligibility criteria set out in section 3 of the BBSRC Research Grants guide (https://bbsrc.ukri.org/documents/grants-guide/)
- Early Career Researcher must be named and a member of Algae-UK
- Event must be relevant to the scope of Algae-UK

Secondment Bursary for Early Career Researchers
Purpose: to support ECR as they grow and expand their skills beyond those available within their current research group.
Value: up to £3,000
Secondment timescale: up to 3 months
Application deadline: open call
Must-haves:
- Applicant must be a supervisor, member of Algae-UK and a UK-based academic who meets the eligibility criteria set out in section 3 of the BBSRC Research Grants guide
- Early Career Researcher must be named and a member of Algae-UK
- Event must be relevant to the scope of Algae-UK
Summer Studentship Bursaries
Purpose: to support undergraduate students as they develop skills relevant to algae research.
Value: up to £2,500
Project timescale: up to 8 weeks
Application deadline: Annual call closing each March
Must-haves:
- Applicant must be a supervisor, member of Algae-UK and a UK-based academic who meets the eligibility criteria set out in section 3 of the BBSRC Research Grants guide (https://bbsrc.ukri.org/documents/grants-guide/)
- Student must be named, an undergraduate not in their final year of study and a member of Algae-UK
- Project must be relevant to the scope of Algae-UK
